Giving

Make a Difference, Daily

There are a variety of ways to make your charitable gift. With your help, we provide a secure lifetime residence and nursing care for 130 adults living with physical disabilities.

Financial assistance from federal and state sources administered through Medicaid covers the basic care needs of our residents, but many of the programs that make life so fulfilling here are made possible through the support of friends like you. We go far beyond custodial medical care and offer enriching opportunities for individuals with permanent physical disabilities to enable them to live a full life.

Legacy Giving

The 1894 Society recognizes those who have included The Virginia Home in their financial or estate plans.  Through the years, legacy gifts have been an important funding source in helping us maintain our commitment to compassionate, lifelong care for our residents.

Several Ways to Give

Contact us to learn more about all the ways to leave a legacy gift. There are several options and many have no effect on your cash flow during a lifetime:*

  • Bequest in a Will – ask us for model language to use in your will or a codicil
  • Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designation – a full or partial beneficiary.
  • IRA Gift – avoid taxes by donating a portion of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
  • Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation – or consider giving a paid-up policy no longer needed
  • Personal Property – consider a gift of antiques, artwork or collectibles
  • Donor Advised Fund – recommend us for a gift
  • Appreciated Securities – capture your charitable deduction and avoid capital gains tax
  • Real Estate – make a great gift and avoid capital gains tax

We are happy to discuss gift methods at any time, without obligation on your part.
