The NEW Virginia Home!
The Virginia Home announced plans to build a $128 million, state-of-the-art campus in Hanover County. The new facility will initially expand capacity by over 20%, increasing from 130 to 160 full-time residents, with room for future growth.
“This new campus will let us serve more individuals with greater independence, dignity, and comfort,” said Douglas Vaughan Jr., President and CEO. “It’s a dream we’ve had since 1894 – and now, it needs a bigger home.”
Designed with best practices in case, the new facility will enhance safety, accessibility, and quality of life. Residents and visitors will benefit from larger rooms, natural light, scenic views, and a single-level layout.
New features will support dignity and independence, including self-sufficiency technology and private bathrooms with individual storage, replacing the current shared model.
The campus will also host a long-awaited day program for up to 60 participants, serving those on the waitlist and individuals not needing full-time care.
Located on a 70-acre site off I-295 in Hanover, the campus allows for outdoor amenities and future expansion, including housing for more independent residents.
