The 1980s seem like a long time ago.
But those years saw Bryce Powell’s first visit to The Home as a young man, invited for a tour by board members Anna Garner and Marian Timmons, friends of his mother. “In those days The Home needed volunteers to help certain residents with meals, and I began to pitch in.”
Franny joined in some years later, after their son Hunter chose The Home for his Eagle Scout project, a set of contests patterned on The Olympic Games for residents to play.
“Some of the residents I first met 30 years ago are still living at The Home today. These residents (and The Home itself) are in it for the long haul. Our support must be similarly long-lived, too.
“In good times and bad, The Home must always be here for these deeply deserving people.
“For that reason, Franny and I have included The Home in our estate plans, joining The 1894 Society. This way, our support for this place can, and will, go on and on.”
